A friend asked how the news cycle could just move on from the Uvalde shooting tragedy.
I replied…
People move on. That’s what they do with any tragedy. Life goes on, we move forward. When my husband died and my life as I knew it ended, I thought everyone and everything would stay in shock mode. But, people moved on. They got back to their lives. I was angry. How could they return to their lives when mine was shattered? But, it’s natural. People move on from tragedies. They go live their lives. I have been learning to live again, in this new reality. I’m not angry anymore because I understand it. But, it’s what we do: we are called to live while we’re alive. But, when we have something happen to us, or an event happens that rocks our world or touches close to home, we take the lessons with us as we move on, as we go forward. It’s never the same, but we keep moving forward because the only other option is to stop living.
