I often see so many lonely widows and it breaks my heart! ๐๐Some friends and family just don’t last the widow experience.
๐ช๐ชHere’s my two cents: wish them well and get some new friends who accept you as you are! Also, get busy calling others. If you can’t talk, then text.
I have three chats that offer me support.
ONE CHAT: Two of my friends whom I walk with around the lake almost every week day. We chat all day about random stuff we’re doing multiple times a day.
ANOTHER CHAT: My Bible study small group offering prayer support for each other and info on life events. We meet weekly for group in the Spring and Fall, with breaks during the holidays and summer.
THIRD CHAT: A group of my widow friends. We four have bonded over being the same age-ish and widowed with similar life experiences. We do fun outings about once a month including dinners/lunches/breakfasts, day trips, concerts, movies, hanging out, etc.
I would go insane if not for these groups of daily texts and outings! ๐ฅฐ๐ป
Does it mean I’m not lonely at times or miss him so much I want to crawl in a hole? No! I still have surging bouts of loneliness and heartbreak. But, I keep pressing on with these relationships because I need them in my life! Even if one of my non-widow friends says something stupid. I call her out in a playful way. The non-widows ‘get it’ in the moment, but they can’t ever truly ‘get it’ bc with being a widow it’s a totally thing of IYKYK. No one else can really ever know.๐
