As a Christian, I’m sorry that person shoved their religion down your throat. We are broken people, trying our best.
Think of churches more like hospitals full of sick patients, rather than cathedrals full of holy people.
The mission work of Christians is to start with a relationship, and only then present the Gospel, and then let it go. God does the work, we don’t. Plus, if someone can’t hear the Gospel, there’s a reason for it and Christians who understand this won’t shove their religion down a non-believer’s throat. That’s not showing Christ.
The best thing for a Christian to do is to walk away!
Matthew 10:14: “If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.”
Matthew 7:6: “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs.”
