Whether you tell your story in memoir form or in others such as poetry, biography, fictionalized history, stream of consciousness, blog, graphic novel, et. al., dive into that genre and read everything you can!

Reading your preferred genre is the best way to up your writing game. See what others are doing. Find out what works and what doesn’t. Open your mind to other possibilities of presentation.

But, you ask, won’t I just copy someone else’s work? No, you won’t. Because we all have our unique writer’s voice. Writing is so subjective that it’s actually a challenge to mimic someone else’s tone and style.

If you want to nail your next piece, start with the library, a blog search, Goodreads, Amazon or Audible. (I’m a huge fan of audio books!) So, read, listen and ponder your way to better writing.
