Dear married sister friends: we widows don’t want to steal your husbands!
Had a raw convo with a couple of my widow friends this weekend.
Seems each one of us has not only lost some of our couple friends we’d had when our husbands were alive, but we’ve also experienced the situation where the husband of a couple friend has offered to help us out and the wife has gone ballistic.
One wife accidentally texted my friend (instead of her husband) and accused him of helping his “second wife.” That moniker could not be further from the truth. She just needed help moving some stuff into storage and a few other ‘heavy lifting’ things. My friend decided to stop asking. Contact has ceased.
Another wife insisted on attending each of her husbands trips to the house for the repairs he offered to do for my friend. He’s a handy-guy and stepped up to help her out. Since the wife wouldn’t let him come alone, scheduling became difficult and my friend decided to stop asking. Contact has ceased.
My own experience mirrors these and I have stopped asking for help. And, as such, contact with some dear former couple friends has ceased.
This is the reality of widowhood.
But, dear sister friend, let me assure you: WE. DON’T. WANT. YOUR. HUSBANDS.
We want our husbands back.
